Rumor had it that we might have hardwood from our front door, down the hallway to the door of the basement. William decided to pull up a small section to see if this was true. (Notice more paint that we had nothing to do with...)
HARDWOOD! William took it upon himself to rip up all the carpet and the plywood. This in the long run is going to save us money on flooring AND it is the original hardwood to the church. The pain was whomever put down the carpet screwed and nailed down the plywood and glued the carpet to the plywood. This "little" job ended up taking days.
This is the start of the job. The little section he pulled up to see if there is hardwood.
What the hallway looked like with the nasty carpet.
This is about when he realized this was going to take much longer than he thought.
Start of day two.
Almost done!
Finally, hardwood that hasn't seen the light of day in AGES!
From where I am standing in the above picture is where the hardwood ends. We were hoping for all the way down the stairs but we were not so lucky. Looks like we are going shopping for more flooring of some sort.
There are people out there that would just leave the floor as you see it. Labour wise this sounds very appealing but that is just not how we roll. Once we have filled a few holes in the walls and painted, we will finish these. It is going to be a ton of work as we have a ridiculous amount of cracks and holes to fill in the floor, but will be well worth it in the end!
