Frustrations

Within my last post I was optimistic that by the next time I posted I would have all sort of things to report.  Well everyone, I was wrong.  We indeed have plans and took them to the town.  Waiting patiently we received a call on Friday from the inspector (whom we are waiting on to ok everything so we can receive the permits we need).  He explained to William that before he was willing to agree to the plans he wanted to come out to the church and double check on everything.  At this point I would like to note that we asked him to do this in November when all the issues with plans began.  He told us at that time "I do not want to get involved in that way".  And now here we are.  Still waiting and receiving what we asked for AFTER the plans have been made.

We went out today to meet him.  For over an hour we went over everything.  The best thing about him is that he had huge Milk Bones in his jacket pocket since he also is an owner of a giant breed.  Plus.  The fur kids loved him.  The most frustrating thing was that he is convinced we are renovating the church to become a duplex or apartment complex.  I have no idea where he got this idea as this has NEVER been talked about. I explained to him TWICE that we are indeed wanting this building to be a ONE family home.  By the end I feel he believed us, but what a struggle that was!  He has a few things he wants to put into his report that he signs over to the town before we can receive permits to begin.  By the end of week he told us would be his time line, but with his history I have a feeling it will be more like two weeks.  (Insert red frustrated face here)

Since we were out and the weather was warm I decided to venture up into the attic since I have yet to climb the ladder to check it out.  I'm glad I did!

This first picture is on the main level where if you want to play on the bells you pull on the ropes

This next picture is in the attic where the ropes continue

These are the mallets that hit the bells (apparently we had pigeons once upon a time)

And these are the bells themselves.  I was disappointed that they are not in bell shape.

These last couple of pictures are of the attic.  It's crazy to see what was considered insulation 100 years ago

So I am really hoping that the next time I am able to sit down and blog I will have all sorts of pictures of the changes that are happening.  Ending on a positive note, I think we have officially picked out tile for the bathroom and a new front door.  Excellent!!

I had a very similar conversation with the inspector a while back too! I tried to explain the overall scope of the project (which I had even listed on the drawings) and made additional notes on the drawings to identify this project as "a single family residence".

Hopefully, you will have some paper work sent your way very soon, if you haven't all ready!!
